Let's start with 2 questions:

1.  Do you know for certain that if you died tonight, you would go to heaven??

2.  Suppose you did die and stood before God, and He asked you; "Why should I let you into my heaven, what would you say??  Think about that for a moment before continuing....

The Book of Romans in the Bible shows us step by step how a person can come to know God. So let's take this journey which has 5 stops along the way.

Step 1 - In Romans 3:23 it says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." That simply means that every person on earth has done something that God disapproves of. And it is not just that we commit sins, but we have a sin nature inside us. If a person is ever going to get to heaven, they must first agree with this verse and personalize it.

Step 2 - Romans 6.23 says, "For the wages of sin is death..." This verse tells us that death, which means "separation", is the payment for sin. Not just physical death, but also spiritual death. In other words, when the sinner dies, he or she is separated from God forever.

Step 3 - Romans 5.8 says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." This is the good news of the gospel! God did something about man's sin problem. He gave His son Jesus in our place. Jesus went to the cross and took all our sin on Himself. Notice the cross in the road above. As you read this, know that God has placed a cross in the path of your life. The only way you can miss heaven is by walking around that cross. The cross is God's provision for our sin. But there's something we must do...

Step 4 - Romans 10.9-10 says, "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."  This verse talks about two things: Confessing and believing. The confession is Jesus as Lord. In order to be right with God, a person must make Jesus the Lord of their life. It means dethroning self and placing Jesus on the throne of your heart. And you must believe that God raised Him from the dead which means you believe Jesus was the Son of God, the only one qualified to take your place on the cross.

Step 5 - Romans 10.13 says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."  To "call" on the name of the Lord simply means that you can pray right now and receive Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life. If you have understood this gospel message and would like to do so, you can pray the following prayer:

"Dear Lord, I confess to you that I am a sinner. I've done things that don't please you. I believe that Jesus is Lord and went to the cross and took my sin on Himself there. And right now, I ask you Jesus to forgive me of all my sin, to come into my heart, and take me to heaven when I die. And thank you Lord, for forgiving me. In Jesus name, A-men."

It is important that you let people know about the decision you have made. The first step is to find a Bible believing Church and join it. Go to the Pastor and tell him what you have done and ask to be baptized. He will explain the meaning of baptism and the Church will help you grow in your faith and be a place where you can serve others. We would love to hear about your decision, rejoice with you, and have the privilege of praying for you. Our number is 870-423-2509. May God richly bless you in your pilgrimage with Him...

One more thing. You should know that for a person to reject Jesus is to reject God's provision for his or her eternity. According to the Bible, that means rather than being your Advocate in eternity, Jesus becomes your Judge.
